Chipping Ongar is a small market town in Epping Forest district, on the A414 between Chelmsford and Harlow, with Brentwood down the A128 to the south. Many homes run two or more boilers, or a modular cascade, so one can carry the load while another is repaired; if yours has only one, plan for what happens when it fails, such as temporary heaters for the most vulnerable residents. Before you call, note the boiler make and model, any fault code or lockout light, the system pressure, whether the heating, the hot water or both have failed, how many boilers have stopped, and the cylinder or calorifier temperature if you can read it. Record the temperatures and what you did in your legionella log. Don't keep resetting a boiler that locks out again. If you smell gas, turn off the supply at the emergency control valve if it is safe to do so, open doors and windows and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
