Small parish, big sheds
Wixoe sits about two miles south-east of Haverhill, between Sturmer and Stoke by Clare. Its working buildings are farm offices, machinery workshops, stores and a few outbuildings let to small businesses, plus St Leonard's church, which dates from the 12th century and was heavily restored in the 1880s. The disused water mill and the 19th-century bridge are among its listed buildings, and the old Stour Valley railway trackbed still runs through the parish.
