Ring-road estates and older city premises

Broadland Business Park sits on the eastern edge of the city beside the A47 and the A1270 Broadland Northway, with grade A offices, warehouses and distribution units. Sweet Briar Business Park, about 21 acres on the inner ring road west of the centre, mixes trade counters, self-storage and a large electric van park. Bowthorpe Employment Area, about three miles west off the A1704, has industrial and office units on estates such as Bowthorpe Park, and the industrial estate beside Norwich Airport still uses some of the Second World War buildings of the US Army Air Force, converted for commercial use.

Each kind of site leaks in its own way. Large sheds have long exposed runs out to welfare blocks that split in a hard frost or after a knock from a forklift. Office buildings have hot water cylinders, calorifiers and booster sets in plant rooms above occupied floors, so a failed valve or a split flexible connection comes through a ceiling. Older city-centre shops and offices in the Lanes and along the medieval street pattern often have pipework under floors, where a leak can travel a long way before it shows.

Make it safe while we cover the 60 miles from Clare

If it is safe to do so, close the nearest isolation valve or the main stopcock, switch off electrics for the wet area at the board, turn the boiler or water heater off at its isolator, and move people and stock away from the water. Take a photo of where it is coming from. Never open gas pipework or appliances.

Norwich is one of the further cities we cover, about 60 miles from Clare CO10 8NN, roughly an hour and a half by road. The desk confirms an engineer, an arrival window and the likely parts before anyone sets off. For sites on secure parks or with a gatehouse, tell us who will meet the engineer.

Emergency commercial plumber Norwich — what to send us

Give the business name and NR postcode, the estate or street, where the leak is and whether you have isolated it, what is out of action (washrooms, kitchen, hot water or heating) and whether the site can keep working. A WhatsApp photo of the leak, the stopcock and any plant room labels helps the engineer bring the right fittings on a long journey.

Gas appliance work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers only (Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998). If anyone smells gas, get people out of the area, do not touch electrical switches and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first.
