Winter gas safety: smell gas? Call National Gas Emergency on 0800 111 999. For commercial boiler breakdowns call 0800 0996 007.
Ashley sits on the Cambridgeshire side of the Newmarket fringe, toward Cheveley and the racing-yard lanes that also serve Kirtling and Gazeley. Commercial heat here is usually a farm boiler, a workshop heater or a short plant room for a yard or racing-related premises, not a town-centre estate. Fast Commercial Boiler Help covers Ashley from 4 Market Hill, Clare, Sudbury, Suffolk CO10 8NN — [email protected] · fastcommercialboiler.help. For a cold commercial building, call 0800 0996 007 and describe the plant, not a house boiler.

Plant rooms and commercial fuels
Arable and mixed yards off the Ashley–Cheveley and Newmarket lanes may run an oil or LPG boiler for an office and mess room, with warm-air, radiant or space heaters over a workshop, stable block or grain store. Say whether heat has failed everywhere, only in the occupied rooms, or only on the heater row. Gas work is Gas Safe 985448. Oil plant is supported by OFTEC trained oil engineers; name commercial LPG on the call if that is the fuel. Racing-fringe lanes can be busy and narrow — include a van note for yard gates.
What to say on the call
Ashley is minutes from Cheveley and Newmarket and a short hop from Clare via Haverhill. Give the farm or premises name, who holds the plant-room key, and the fuel. WhatsApp 07947 578332 is useful for a badge photo after you have phoned. PPM for an Ashley commercial site is arranged by enquiry on the call, not as a monthly package.

Rural commercial heating faults we see around Ashley
Businesses on the lanes between Ashley, Cheveley and Newmarket rarely have a mains-gas plant room. Heat usually comes from an oil or LPG boiler for an office, tack room or staff mess, with separate heaters over a workshop or store. Each setup fails in its own way, and knowing which one you have saves time on the phone:
| What you notice | Usual causes we check | Useful to tell us |
|---|---|---|
| Oil boiler locks out soon after a fuel delivery | Sludge or water drawn from the tank, blocked filter, burner pump or nozzle fault | Delivery date, tank gauge reading, whether a reset lights it briefly |
| Oil boiler will not fire at all, no burner noise | Fire valve closed or tripped, empty tank, no power to the burner, frost stat or timer | Whether the boiler display is lit and what the tank gauge shows |
| LPG heating weak or failing in a cold snap | Low tank level, regulator problem, appliance gas pressure dropping at high fire | Tank percentage, supplier name, whether other LPG appliances are affected |
| Workshop warm-air heater runs the fan but no heat | Ignition or flame proving fault, overheat limit tripped, flue or air supply problem | Make and model, any lamp or code, how long since it was last serviced |
| Office warm but outbuildings frozen or cold | Long pipe runs uninsulated, frost protection not covering remote zones, zone valve stuck | Which buildings, whether pipework runs outside, any visible leaks |
If you smell gas or LPG, get people away from the area, do not operate switches, turn off the supply at the emergency control or tank valve if it is safe, and call the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999.
Oil supply checks before you call
A large share of oil boiler breakdowns on rural sites are fuel supply problems rather than a boiler fault. Before phoning, it is worth checking, from the outside only, that the tank gauge shows fuel, that nothing has knocked the fire valve near the boiler, and whether the problem started straight after a delivery or heavy rain. Note anything unusual about the tank, such as a split, weeping seams or oil inside a bund.
At commercial premises in England, oil stored above 200 litres generally falls under the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations, which set out secondary containment such as bunding. We are not a tank installer, but our OFTEC trained engineers will point out anything on the supply side that needs attention while they are on site. More on oil plant is on our commercial oil heating page, and LPG sites can read our commercial LPG heating page.
Getting outbuildings and yard heating ready for winter
Offices, mess rooms and workshops that are only heated part of the day are the ones most at risk once nights turn cold. Check the frost thermostat covers remote buildings, that exposed pipework is lagged, and that a condensing boiler's condensate pipe does not run unprotected outside, as a frozen condensate pipe is a common cause of cold-morning lockouts. Our guides on frost protection for commercial heating and condensate problems cover what to look for.
Warm-air and radiant heaters over workshops should be serviced once a year, ideally before the cold weather, including a check of the heat exchanger. See warm-air heater heat exchanger checks and yearly workshop and warehouse heater servicing. If you would rather not track dates, planned maintenance can cover the boiler and heaters on one schedule.
Ashley commercial heating questions
Do you repair oil boilers on farms and yards around Ashley?
Yes. Commercial oil boilers serving farm offices, mess rooms, workshops and yard buildings around Ashley, Cheveley and Newmarket are covered, with OFTEC trained engineers for oil plant. Call 0800 0996 007 with the farm or business name and the fuel.
Our oil boiler stopped soon after a fuel delivery. Why?
A delivery can stir up sludge and water that has settled in the bottom of the tank, which then reaches the filter or the burner pump and starves the burner of fuel. A blocked filter, a closed fire valve or water in the fuel are common causes. Do not keep resetting it; tell us the delivery date and we will check the supply line as well as the burner.
Do you work on LPG heating for rural businesses?
Yes. Commercial LPG boilers, water heaters and warm-air heaters are gas work carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers (FCBH registration 985448). The bulk tank itself and its supply up to the first valve normally belong to your LPG supplier, so we will tell you if a fault is on their side.
Can you look after heaters in a workshop or barn as well as the boiler?
Yes. Many rural sites have a boiler for the office and separate warm-air or radiant heaters in a workshop or store. We can service and repair both in one visit and keep the records together.
Do you do domestic boilers in Ashley farmhouses?
No. Fast Commercial Boiler Help is commercial only, so we cover the business side of the site, such as offices, workshops, yard buildings and staff facilities, not the family home.
